Blood Bullets & Broads: The AITH Podcast has not one, but two special guests this week in one of our most action-packed episodes yet. First up, super hottie America Olivo drops by to talk “BITCH SLAP" and other exciting things. After she takes off, The Arrow and some dude in his fridge swings by and screams obscenities at us. In other words, this week’s podcast includes…
AMERICA OLIVO DISHES THE SCOOP ON “BITCH SLAP” AND THE ART OF CHICK FIGHTING
Today was a whirlwind with America Olivo doing interviews across New York City to promote the “Bitch Slap” DVD.
The morning started at the Thrillist offices with David Blend. They had a great time doing a “This Or That” segment, where America was given two crazy, random options and had to pick one and explain why. She provided hilarious and memorable answers, so be sure to read the interview when it goes up.
All too soon, America had to rush off to Sirius XM Radio, to talk with “Getting Late” host Mark Seman. The 20-minute interview flew by! Get the inside scoop when it airs on March 16 on Sirius 104 XM.
Her next interview, at Maxim, proved to be a nice break. For the “A Drink With…” segment, America got to sit and relax with Eric Alt. She revealed that her tomboy upbringing really helped when it came to playing “Camero,” since her bruises and scars actually helped her get the gig.
Even the car trip around the city was spent working, with America calling in to JoBlo’s“Arrow in the Head” podcast. They discussed how “Bitch Slap” was so fun and different from her past projects, what she’s got on the horizon, and more. The podcast will be available on Wednesday, so listen in.
The hectic day wrapped up at Fangoria with Mike Gingold. The horror magazine’s office has a couch made out of an actual coffin and blood dripping down the walls! The atmosphere was perfectly spooky.
After spending the day discussing “Bitch Slap” and the unforgettable moments during shooting, America barely had time to see the city before catching a flight back to LA.
The interviews will be posting over the next week, so keep an eye out or check back for links to the coverage!
Filled with boobs, bombs, and bombshells, “Bitch Slap” is a tribute to the stand-out style of cult exploitation films and a modern throwback to the B-movie genre.
The unrated DVD features 3 extra minutes of never-before-seen footage and the extra feature “Behind Bitch Slap: Building a Better B-Movie.” Recognizing the influence that the B-movie genre has had on the film industry, the documentary highlights the unparalleled and sensationalistic characteristics of the genre films that have inspired filmmakers for decades.
Every member of the cast and crew spent time doing interviews, answering fan questions on UStream, dining on sushi and signing autographs.
Erin Cummings, aka “Hel,” dressed in a signature pin-up vintage dress, loved the sexy costumes from the film. With her work in a B-movie throwback like “Bitch Slap” and this outfit, you can tell she enjoys paying homage to American pop culture of the past. Erin is currently working on “Spartacus,” with Lucy Lawless, and loving it!
Tough chick extraordinaire, Zoe Bell, worked double time for “Bitch Slap” as Rawhide and as the film’s stunt coordinator. The film was a reunion for Zoe Bell, Lucy Lawless, Kevin Sorbo and Rick Jacobson. They all worked together on the Xena and Hercules series nearly a decade ago, and have been waiting for a great opportunity to work together again. Bell was just nominated for Best Female Actor in a Web Series Drama in The Streamy Awards for her work on “Angel of Death.” Be on the lookout for her next film – “Game of Death.”
Julia Voth, “Bitch Slap’s” illustrious Trixie, celebrated the DVD release of her first feature film. Previously she had focused on modeling, traveling the world and serving as the model for Jill Valentine in the video game Resident Evil. “Bitch Slap” is just the beginning of her film career, and we can’t wait to see what’s next.
America Olivo, aka Camero, stopped in after a performance at Upright Cabaret. Trained as an Opera Singer at Julliard, America juggles her love of music with her burgeoning acting career. America will next be in “Love Shack,” so keep your eyes peeled for this too outrageous for Sundance film about the master of porn Mo Saltzman.
Arriving at the tail end of the event, Minae Noji proved to be very different from her “Bitch Slap” character. Having previously worked in soap operas like “General Hospital” and “The Bold and the Beautiful,” she loved the change of pace that filming this one-of-a-kind B-movie provided.
Filmmakers, Rick Jacobson and Brian Peck, were also on hand to talk about the film and their love for B-movies. “Bitch Slap” was truly a work of passion – the director and producer didn’t take no for an answer when it came to budgetary concerns, cleavage shots, or explosive moments. Both filmmakers talked about their influences and inspirations in “Behind Bitch Slap: Building a Better B-Movie” which comes as an extra feature on the “Bitch Slap” DVD.
After feasting on sushi and chocolate dipped strawberries, the event attendees went to a midnight screening of the film, which was one of the last chances to see it on the big screen before the DVD is released today, March 2.
Rick Jacobson’s “Bitch Slap,” which is out on DVD March 2nd [official site], follows three bad girls (a down-and-out stripper, a drug-running killer, and a corporate power broker) as they arrive at a remote desert hideaway to extort and steal $200 million in diamonds from a ruthless underworld kingpin. Things quickly spin out of control as allegiances change, truths are revealed, other criminals arrive for the score, the fate of the world hangs in the balance, and they are forced to confront a villain much worse than they ever expected … themselves. It’s the ultimate morality tale as, one by one, they realize the whole she-bang was a set-up and one of them may not even be human. And now GreenCine and Fox Home Entertainment are pleased to present you with a Bitch Slap contest.
Zoe Bell, badass bitch “Rawhide” and stunt coordinator on “Bitch Slap” was just nominated for Best Female Actor in a Drama Web Series Streamy Award!
“Angel of Death” is a stark, stylish pulp thriller about a very bad girl gone “good.” Eve (Zoe Bell) is a sexy assassin who kills without remorse - until one botched hit changes everything. Caught off guard, Eve is stabbed in the head and inadvertently murders a young girl. The blade is removed, but the damage is done: Eve’s mind is now filled with visions of past victims. The hunter becomes the haunted. Unable to “work,” this mob asset has become a liability. Eve’s only chance to survive is to track down her ruthless bosses before their new hitman finds her.
